The Tree of Life (Arabic: شجرة الحياة; transliterated: Shajarat al-Hayah) is a 100+year old tree, probably a Prosopis cineraria (Mesquite), in Bahrain that is considered a natural wonder. This unique tree stands alone in the desert about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the Jebel Dukhan, the highest point in Bahrain. The source of water for this tree remains a mystery because it stands in a place completely free of water. The tree is mentioned in the movie L.A. Story. Bahrain was mistakenly dubbed as an emirate of the UAE, whereas it was an independent state in the year the movie was released (1991). (source: Wikipedia)
